Luntian Pangarap FIlm Project
This is a feature documentary that examines the connection between renewable energy projects—like seabed quarrying, mining, dams, and solar and wind farms—and the exploitation of the land, ocean, and their inhabitants. The film will focus on communities affected by seabed quarrying, black sand mining, offshore mining, hydropower dams, solar and wind farms, and other Climate Change Mitigation Projects. It will challenge the idea that renewable energy harvesting is entirely clean, green or good for the planet.
Through interviews with affected local people in these communities, including Indigenous people, as well as environmental organizations and activists, the film will investigate how the push for renewable energy, driven by the global north, has a devastating impact on the environment in the global south, particularly the Archipelago. The film will question the dominant narrative that renewable energy is good for the planet by revealing the cost of the extraction and raw materials required to create these technologies, ultimately powering an unsustainable system.
